There was no question which movie would dominate the box office this weekend; the only question was by how much? "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" has been anticipated since the first "Hunger Games" became a worldwide hit. It seems Jennifer Lawrence's star will continue to shine bright after this weekend's record breaking numbers. Not that there was even a question as to whether or not Lawrence was going to continue to be one of Hollywood's biggest stars, but this will only help further that notion.

Deadline reports that "Catching Fire" is on pace to make $160 million in its opening weekend. To put this in perspective, Marvel's superhero sequel "Thor: The Dark World" considered a blockbuster film, is scheduled to make around $160 million three weeks in! In its opening weekend "Thor" made $85 million before dropping to around $37 million in its second weekend. This weekend, the film's third weekend, it came up against "Hunger Games" and according to ComicBookMovie.com is expected to earn only $14 million.

Deadline also is reporting that "Catching Fire" is on pace for a global opening gross of $307.7 million, which is significantly better than the $211million opening weekend gross of "The Hunger Games." TheWrap reports that the opening weekend numbers from "Catching Fire" make it the biggest November opening in U.S. history, but it will actually still only be the second highest grossing debut this year behind "Iron Man 3's" $174 million.

The "Hunger Games" movie franchise will continue with movies set for release the next two years. In November of 2014, "Mockingjay Part 1" is expected to be released; while "Mockingjay Part 2" is set for release in November of 2015. It seems like there will be no slowing down the "Hunger Games" franchise. This is also good news for Hollywood darling Jennifer Lawrence who continues to become a bigger and bigger star. There seems to be no stopping Lawrence and her already hugely successful movie career.
