It's official: Katie Couric left ABC News for Yahoo, penning a deal with them and announcing it this morning, Deadline.com reported. Starting in 2014, Couric will be a global news anchor for Yahoo News and the complete Yahoo network with "a growing team of global correspondents who will report on live world events, anchor groundbreaking interviews with major newsmakers and thought leaders, and much more." Yahoo's CEO Marissa Mayer continued that Couric is the best choice for the job due to her "depth of experience, her intellectual curiosity, and her charisma."

Couric has been the Today show host, anchored the CBS Evening News and done her syndicated talk show Katie -- so  "I've done pretty much everything else in television up until now," Couric told deadline. "If you look at the next frontier where content is going and how people are consuming it, it is in the digital space." Couric is excited to dive more into the online world. She has already encouraged her viewers to interact on social media. She has even done an online interview segment in the past.

What about ending her ABC News deal early? Couric addressed this question head-on: "It is still a very symbiotic relationship," Couric said. "As ABC News has said, it wouldn't be surprising if they would utilize my content on their platform." Yahoo and ABC have a partnership.

As MStarsNews has reported before, Couric is likely to discontinue her talk show "Katie," which is now in its second season. No word on what would replace the show if and when it comes to this.

Can you see Couric from in the online world rather than on that other small screen you got so used to seeing her on?
