The Walking Dead airs the midseason finale of Season 4 this Sunday night on AMC and the show could play out a major event from the comics in this episode. The show has diverted from the source material (sometimes in significant ways) but it seems poised to deliver an episode that matches the original comic.

WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE WALKING DEAD COMIC SERIES AND TV SHOW. TURN BACK NOW IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.

Still with me? Okay, then.

The Governor (David Morrissey) is about to attack the prison with a tank in the midseason finale. The character had been reintroduced to the show in recent episodes and appeared to be on the road to redemption, but that turned out not to be the case. He also attacked the prison once before on the show but abandoned the plan.

In the comics, the Governor's tank assault in Issue #48 killed multiple characters, including Hershel, Axel, Tyreese and even The Governor himself. But probably the most shocking and stomach-turning deaths of all were Lori and baby Judith. In the show, Axel is already dead (thanks to The Governor's first prison attack) and Lori has also died.

The Walking Dead has played around with the source material quite often in its four seasons. Dale, Otis and Shane all died but under different circumstances than in the comics. Tyreese came on the show much later than he did in the comics, and other characters have lived longer or died earlier than their comic book counterparts.

It's unclear yet if the show would get dark enough to kill a baby, but we will find out on Sunday night.
