Lil Mama sued by lawyer, ordered to pay 18K

At what is probably the peak of her career, Lil Mama recently took an embarrassing blow in court. The rapper was sued by her lawyer who helped protect her right to use her name.

Lil Mama's lawyer took her to court for non-payment of services. The attorney, who specializes in intellectual property, says he severed ties with her in 2011 after being stiffed since 2008. However, the lawyer continued to work for her until 2011.

Unsurprisingly, he got fed up and wants his money.

According to TMZ, the judge ordered Lil Mama to shell out $18,000 for attorney's fees, interest and other costs.

Lil Mama was just making her way back to stardom. The rapper recently starred as Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes in the VH1 movie CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story.

Before starring in the film, Lil Mama was best remembered for bombarding the stage during Jay Z and Alicia Keys' performance at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

Let's hope Lil Mama didn't just bomb her second chance at getting her career back on track. Maybe her new friends/mentors, T-Boz and Chili, can help her with footing the bill.

Since filming for CrazySexyCool, the two have taken Lil Mama under their wing. They even allowed her to stand in as Left Eye during performances at the American Music Awards and Dancing With the Stars.

TLC faced their own monetary issues during their career. Peebles recently denied rumors of her planning to sue Left Eye's estate.

Lil Mama has yet to publicly respond to the lawsuit.
