It's been a great holiday season so far and Fat Joe's family had a little bit more to be thankful for this past Thanksgiving. The rapper was released early from prison and got to spend the holiday with his family.

DJ Nasty spread the good news via Instagram, posting "Welcome Home @fatjoe #Happythanksgiving #blessed."

Earlier this year, Fat Joe was sentenced to four years in prison for tax evasion. He was also ordered to pay a $15,000 fine with a year of supervision. The rapper served three months of his bid.

Although he lives in Miami, Fat Joe was rosecuted in New Jersey because he owns corporations based in Somerville from which he received income.

Federal authorities in New Jersey have been coming after musicians on tax evasion charges in recent months. Lauryn Hill was also released from prison this year after serving time for tax evasion.

According to the original report, Fat Joe owed $718,038 in back taxes from 2007 through 2010 but in the end, he only pleaded guilty for the two years.

The report also claimed that the rapper made $1.18 million in 2007, more than $1.28 million in 2008, more than $265,000 in 2009, and more than $630,000 in 2010.

The rapper turned himself in on August 26 to Miami's Federal Detention Center.

Fat Joe posted a video of himself surprising his daughter just before Thanksgiving dinner but he has not yet commented on his release. Nonetheless, we're happy he's home and we're sure his daughter is very thankful for that surprise.

Are you expecting to hear new music from Fat Joe since he has been released from prison? What do you think of his early release?
