The trailer for Marc Webb's superhero sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will appear online on Thursday and in theaters on Friday, Dec. 13 in front of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. But three new international clips have provided a look at Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) in web-swinging action and tease the trailer release.

This first clip shows Spidey in free fall before he fires a web and starts to swing around the sky a bit:

The second clip shows Spider-Man from a distance as he swings toward the Oscorp tower, which looms large in the background. A helicopter also appears to be following him:

The third and final clip is very brief and simply shows Spidey on a rooftop looking toward the camera:

There are two interesting things to note here. First, each successive clip counts down to the trailer release date, so the three clips were probably meant to be released on consecutive days and not all at once. Secondly, the clips feature the subtitle The Rise of Electro. This subtitle has been discussed on the Internet for a while as a possible tag to The Amazing Spider-Man 2's title, but Sony has yet to officially add it. It's possible the company could do so (though maybe not for the United States version) in the coming months.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters on May 2, 2014 and stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro, Paul Giamatti as The Rhino, Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn.
