The HBO smash hit Game of Thrones has developed something of a tradition in its first three seasons. The penultimate episode of a given season is the one that packs in the most action, pushes the plot forward most, kills the most characters and usually has the biggest budget. And apparently, that will be the case in Season 4, as well.

Director Neil Marshall helmed the penultimate episode of Season 2, "Blackwater," in which Stannis Baratheon's fleet led a massive assault on King's Landing. Marshall will also direct the penultimate episode of the upcoming Season 4 and revealed some details about the hour in an interview with The Irish Film & Television Network.

Marshall told IFTN that the ninth episode of Season 4 would be massive and movie-quality:

"What I can say is that it's a huge episode - a huge production. As far as I know the episode hasn't been named yet but someone online suggested it might be called 'Castle Black' but all I know is that it's called episode nine! It's kind of the same as 'Blackwater', in a sense, in that these episodes are bigger than most of my films! They're on the same scale as something like 'Centurion', if not bigger."

Marshall also said that the episode would be bloody and characters would die in various ways:

"There are a few beheadings in there, as is my wont! And yeah, we got to blow some people up, set people on fire and do quite a few high falls. There's a lot of very physical action and a lot of fighting - sword fights and physical fights. We pack quite a lot of stuff in there."
