If you tried to project the people to have a banner year in 2013, I doubt anyone would have picked Italian disco pioneer Giorgio Moroder. The superproducer kicked off the year with a high-profile collaboration/ history lesson with Daft Punk on their Random Access Memories track "Giorgio By Moroder." Since then, Moroder has been tapped by Google for original music, took part in a Diana Ross remix album and begun work on a collaboration with Chic's Nile Rodgers.

Further injecting himself into the zeitgeist of 2013, Moroder has remixed Haim's Days Are Gone single "Forever", injecting his own brand of dance thump into the John Hughes-ian track,

Check it out on Soundcloud.

If you have yet to hear of sister-act Haim, you soon will. Though they charted minor hits with EP standouts "Forever" and "Falling", the listening public proved themselves to be a strange beast once again, latching on to the Fleetwood Mac-riffing of "The Wire." The track has been steadily climbing singles charts ever since.
