In an effort to head further down the path blazed by MTV and TLC, History has brought on Eli Roth (Hostel) to craft a mini-series around Jesus Christ's totally-not-canon demon wranglin' 20s.

In order to recreate the channel's fact-stretching smash hit The Bible, The Lost Years will play around with an area of Jesus' life not included in the Bible, the time between his youth and his eventual death on the cross. The series purportedly will follow JC as he exorcises demons around the Holy Land. Of course, the term "exorcism" didn't exist in Jesus' time as the word means "to cast out demons in the name of Christ", but I doubt a series based around an entirely fabricated idea of Jesus fighting the minions of the underworld is too concerned with semantic roots.

The project will be written by Scott Kosar (The Amityville Horror, The Crazies) and is being co-produced by Eric Newman (The Last Exorcism).

Part of me is sad that this is a thing, and the other part is telling me to "Shut up, bro, cuz it'll be awesome."
