Fans of the series were hoping that a Hulk standalone film would come out of the success of Marvel's The Avengers. With this news slowly turning into rumors, director Joss Whedon tried to put a pin in this idea, but there have been a number of reports contradicting him. In fact, the original Hulk actor Lou Ferrigno is the latest to hype up a new movie with Mark Ruffalo in the starring role.
"If it wasn't for me, the Hulk wouldn't be around today," the former Hulk portrayer explained in a new interview. He also dropped a bombshell on the future of the movie franchise:
"They are doing a Hulk movie, I think after the next Avengers."
This blunt statement comes from the man that voiced the comic book character's transformed voice in The Avengers, so he shouldn't be brushed off just yet. Ferrigno also voiced his desire to return for the voice and maybe another role in future films.

Do you think we should trust this statement?
Earlier this year, Joss Whedon explained why it would be difficult to have another Hulk movie that would work this time around.
"The problem is it's a very popular character, but it's not a superhero. Half of it's a superhero, half of it's a werewolf," he said. "And you can't structure it like a superhero movie, you can't light it like a superhero movie. How do you develop that? It would be extremely difficult. The one thing you would have in your favor would be Mark Ruffalo. But right now I don't know if they have plans to do that or not, because he works so well as part of a greater whole, but by himself, it's tough. I don't envy the guys who went before."
