The "Beverly Hills Cop" funnyman is NOT dead! But here's what's really sad... the morbid "Eddie Murphy death hoax" suddenly resurfaced on Twitter and Facebook over the weekend - following the actual death of "Fast and Furious" actor, Paul Walker.

Fans were in disbelief that 40-year-old Walker passed away in a tragic car explosion on Saturday, November 30. One Twitter fan wrote:

"I'm hearing tons of Paul Walker is dead stuff. Well... keep in mind that Eddie Murphy died 8 times."

Another tweeted:

"Paul isn't dead, it's a hoax. Same thing happened to Eddie Murphy."

And this:

"Paul is NOT dead! Please don't be floodinj my TL with that RIP mess. He's NOT dead. Just like Eddie Murphy and Jackie Chan isn't, HE'S ALIVE!!"

But when Walker's shocking death was finally confirmed, things really got out-of-control:

@alexnewport_: "Apparently Eddie Murphy is dead? No way."

@zentkatana: "We need a day of peace for the man that we love. He will no longer be giving joy in this world. RIP eddie murphy (aka donkey from shrek)."

@Mr_Dunning_25: "RIP Eddie Murphy & Paul Walker."

This is why such death hoaxes are NOT funny. Murphy's publicist later confirmed that Murphy is alive and well, releasing the statement, "Eddie Murphy has not died."

But Paul Walker did pass away, and his death shouldn't be taken so lightly. Family, friends, fans, and co-stars continue mourning the shocking crash that killed the beloved actor. Reports confirm that the the official cause of death was combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries:

RIP, Paul Walker.
