Last year on BBC America's Graham Norton Show, Mark Ruffalo shared a semi-scandalous story that is just now making huge rounds on the Internet, thanks to sources like Vanity Fair.

On opening night of Mark Ruffalo's play, his fellow castmate -- " a naughty young actor," according to Ruffalo -- slipped a real joint onto the prop table. This replaced the fake joint Ruffalo's character was supposed to be smoking, unbeknownst to him.

In the very first scene Ruffalo began sharing the joint with the other character onstage (in front of live audience, if we have to remind you). He begins the hilarious narrative:

"Now when you're acting you overdo everything. So when you're out at a party you take two puffs and you say 'that's enough I'm so stoned.' But I was acting so I'm just like..." Ruffalo continues to mimic him inhaling, even passing on the air-joint to Nicki Minaj sitting next to him on the couch, another guest on the Graham Norton Show.

The result of the crazy night? "Between the two of us we smoked a giant blunt onstange," Ruffalo recounted. He even goes on to tell his thought process during the smoking: "I'm like, 'Man, I'm in it tonight, I feel it..I'm on fire, man..." These good vibes quickly turn to paranoia, and Ruffalo finally realized it was all a prank.

Even worse, the girl he was passing the joint to had never smoked pot before. Ruffalo admits that up until that point he had smoked a lot of marijuana in his past.

Nicki Minaj adds commentary, telling the Graham Norton Show audience "never do drugs."

Norton comes back with: "We dropped this anecdote for a message."

And Ruffalo follows up all this with: "If it was the worst thing I ever did, don't do it...But at the end of the play, I got the best reviews of my entire career."

The video is only going viral now after this was filmed last year. Funny how that happens. Watch the hilarity ensue:
