Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Tuesday night with its midseason finale entitled "The Bridge," which will escalate the conflict between S.H.I.E.L.D. and the nefarious organization known as Centipede. A new preview clip for the episode shows a returning character who sides with S.H.I.E.L.D. in the fight.

In the clip posted by TVLine, Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) calls upon Mike Peterson (returning guest star J. August Richards) to get some super-powered help in the fight. But as the clip shows, Mike's powers and Coulson's famous Night-Night Gun are still not quite enough to bring down Centipede's latest creations.

The clip starts in a warehouse with Coulson and Mike wondering if they are alone. The team notes that there is a strange electronic signal near them, and a pair of super soldiers suddenly burst out of a container. Agents Ward (Brett Dalton) and May (Ming Na Wen) fight one while Coulson tags the other with his gun. But the soldier quickly pops back up, much to Coulson and Mike's surprise.

EW.com previously posted a different exclusive clip from the episode in which Edison Po (Cullen Douglas) returns and Centipede decides to bust him out of jail. In the clip, an inmate tries to sit down to eat but Edison shoos him away. A group of seemingly powered-up Centipede agents bust in through the ceiling and fight the guards as Edison calmly eats his meal. One f them says "time to go" and Edison insists that he call him "sir." The agent does and they pull him up through the hole in the ceiling.
