The most recent episode of the ABC hit drama Scandal ended on a bloody note as Vice President Sally Langston (Kate Burton) stood over her husband's dead body after she, presumably, stabbed him. Cyrus (Jeff Perry) had shown her the pictures of her husband and James (Dan Bucatinsky) in the throes of passion, and that apparently did not sit well with the Bible-thumping VP.

The show will air its midseason finale on Thursday and People posted an exclusive clip of the aftermath of the cliffhanger from last week. Cyrus arrives at Langston's house and cordially greets the two Secret Service agents guarding the door. Sally opens up and lets him in and Cyrus sees the body on the floor. Sally mumbles about how the devil made her do it after she let him in and now she's going to burn in flames.

In case you missed the news, ABC has decided to reduce the number of episodes in Season 3 of Scandal from 22 to 18. Deadline reports that the network did not give an official reason for the reduction, but it almost assuredly has nothing to do with the performance of the show, as Scandal continues to dominate the ratings on Thursday nights. The likely reason is that star Kerry Washington is pregnant and the writers will soon run out of ways to deal with that. Olivia Pope is the main character and there is no Scandal without her, so writing her off the show or reducing her on-screen presence, even for a few episodes, is not an option.

Scandal airs its midseason finale at 10 p.m. on Thursday.
