In Tom Cruise's latest movie, the action star finds himself in a futuristic sci-fi war complete with a robotic battle suit. Edge of Tomorrow (originally called and based on the comic series All You Need is Kill) is a new story involving aliens, time loops, and death. This new movie also stars Emily Blunt and Bill Paxton.

Here is the official synopsis for Edge of Tomorrow:

Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Tom Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop-forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again...and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

Clearly this is an interesting concept, but will this movie become boring or even excessively violent as it progresses? Other movies of this nature come to mind including Groundhog Day and Source Code, but this film's subject matter (a war with aliens) will definitely separate it from the others.

Do you think this new Cruise film will be one that you see in 2014? Are you excited to see how this time-loop eventually works out for Cruise's character?
