Phillip Phillips of American Idol will be in the Nation's Capitol to perform alongside Megan Hiltv, Josh Turner, Matthew Broderick and John Williams on the Fourth of July.  We haven't heard much of Phillips' singing since he took home the title of America's Idol for Season 11 in May.  He has been recuperating from his serious kidney surgery where large kidney stones were removed.

This upcoming event in Washington D.C. will be Phillips first major performance since his finale on "Idol" and it will also be his first time to step foot in that city.

Phillips told AP, "I'm getting better each day, so that's a good thing. I'm just walking around, getting my strength back together."

After this performance, Phillips will be heading out on "Idol" live summer tour with his fellow "Idol" family.
