Linda Cardellini is set to appear in multiple episodes of New Girl in the upcoming year. According to Entertainment Weekly, Cardellini will play Jess' (Zooey Deschanel) sister Abby who is described as "the wild-child sister who brings a real Springer energy to every situation."

The actress made a huge impression with her role as Sylvia Rosen, Don Draper's mistress, on Mad Men last season, earning her an Emmy nomination. But before she got into it with Draper, she was best known for her role as Lindsay Weir on the cult TV show Freaks and Geeks, alongside James Franco, Seth Rogen and Jason Segel.

The announcement of her guest appearance on New Girl allows fans to prepare and make sure they catch her episodes. With Mad Men, she was sworn to secrecy about her role before the season started. She told The Hollywood Reporter that she couldn't even tell her mother about it.

Back in May, she also told THR that she isn't just stuck on dramatic roles because of her part playing Rosen. "Yeah, I would love to do some comedy again," she said. "It's been a while; it would be fun to do something comedic, but at the same time it depends on the role.

Her role as Abby on New Girl should show up sometime in February, according to Entertainment Weekly. The show is set to have quite a few guest stars, including Damon Wayans Jr. (who was in the pilot and will be a staying character now), Taye Diggs, Adam Brody, Prince, and Jamie Lee Curtis will continue to play Jess' mom.

New Girl returns after the holiday hiatus on Jan. 7.
