Surprise, surprise! (Except not really.) There's a new No. 1 album in town, and it goes to Beyoncé. Yes, the pop mega-star, who dropped a surprise, self-titled album last Friday (Dec. 13) at midnight has now topped the Billboard 200 with that very set, surpassing recent releases from R. Kelly, Garth Brooks and Childish Gambino with only three days.

According to Billboard, Beyoncé sold 617,000 copies in its first three days, where it was available exclusively on iTunes. The 14 song, 18 video "visual album" sells for $15.99 on iTunes, guaranteeing a pretty penny for Beyoncé, Apple and those at Bey's record label Columbia.

Beyoncé has broken iTunes records by becoming the fast-selling ever set on the digital sales platform, moving over 800,000 copies worldwide in only three days. Beyoncé also broke the record of other solo female performers. Not only does her new album have the highest US debut of any woman in 2013 (easily beating Katy Perry's Prism's 286,000 units), but Beyoncé is the first woman to have her first five albums go straight to No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Not too shabby for only three days.

While Beyoncé was the highest profile and most shocking album of the week, it wasn't the only record in the country. So, how did others fare?

The No. 2 slot goes to last week's No. 1 album, Garth Brook's Walmart exclusive box set Blame It All On My Roots. Released on Thanksgiving, the compilation is still selling strong with 172,000 units.

Kelly Clarkson's sparkling Christmas album Wrapped in Red continues chart dominance as the holidays get ever-nearer, and rose to No. 3 with 136,000 copies, thanks in no part to her NBC holiday special Kelly Clarkson's Cautionary Christmas Tale.

The second new album of the week to appear on the charts is R. Kelly's Black Panties, which arrived at No. 4 with 133,000 copies. He's nuzzled between Clarkson and another one of the season's biggest releases, One Direction's Midnight Memories, which sold 123,000 copies and slipped down three spots to No. 5.

The Duck Dynasty Robertson family is still going strong with its Christmas album Duck The Halls, which quacked up 108,000 units, earning a No. 6 slot in the Billboard top 10.

Besides R. Kelly, only one new album appears in the top 10 this week: Childish Gambino's second studio album Because the Internet, which arrived at No. 7 and 96,000 copies. It's the best sales week to date for the rapper, whose first album Camp moved 52,000 copies in 2011.

The Billboard 200 top 10 is rounded out by: Eminem's MMLP2 at No. 8 (83,000 copies), Katy Perry's Prism at No. 9 (59,000) and the soundtrack to the Disney animated film Frozen, which rose one spot to No. 10 with 56,000 copies.
