Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson named Forbes' Top-Grossing Actor of 2013

The Rock may have started his career as a wrestler but he has decided to pursue other endeavors and needless to say, it's been a very lucrative decision.

Forbes recently named Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson as the top-grossing actor of 2013. This year, Johnson starred in films like Fast & Furious 6, G.I. Joe and Pain & Gain.

The former wrestler grossed $1.3 billion this year.

But Johnson wasn't the only Fast & Furious actor on the list this year. Vin Diesel placed fourth on the list with Fast & Furious 6 earning $789 million worldwide and the third installment of his Riddick franchise charting $98 million at the box office.

The late Paul Walker made the list as well. The actor, who recently passed away in a tragic car accident, came in at No. 6.

Robert Downey, Jr., Steve Carell, Sandra Bullock, Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Chris Hemsworth and Jennifer Lawrence also made the list.

Iron Man 3 was the highest grossing film of 2013. Although The Rock beat out Robert Downey, Jr. for the No. 1 spot, Downey's only film this year generated more in earnings than Johnson. Iron Man 3 grossed $1.2 billion.

But Fast & Furious did exceptionally well this year as well and with another installment in the works, Johnson should have another banner year in 2014.

Johnson is slated to star in Hercules. The film about the mythological hero will be released next year. Johnson's box office grosses could be even bigger than this year.
