When news broke several weeks ago that Gal Gadot would play Wonder Woman in the 2015 Man of Steel sequel Batman vs. Superman, a contingent of fans reacted negatively. Some claimed she was too thin, others believed she was not buxom enough and still others said she was not athletic enough. Now, her co-star Amy Adams (who plays Lois Lane) has spoken up in Gadot's defense.

Adams spoke to MTV as part of a press tour for her latest film, American Hustle, and admitted that she was "not familiar with [Gadot's] body shape." But she still offered her opinion on the fans' feeling that the actress does not have the right physique for the part by drawing on her own experience as Lois Lane in Man of Steel.

"I don't buy into that," Adams said. "Not that I [don't] believe that it's happening, but I'm certainly not a classically drawn woman as they exist in comic books, so I had to embrace that I just had a baby. I still hadn't gotten my waist back. Lois is not about proportions, Lois is about her intellect and her savvy reporting skills and her empathy for Clark, and so I just didn't think about it."

Furthermore, Adams remarked that director Zack Snyder is famous for making sure his actors and actresses are in peak physical condition.

"She is going to be yoked, man," she said. "He is going to make her a beast."

For the record, Gadot spent two years in the Israeli army and showcased her physical skills in The Fast and The Furious franchise, so her athletic skills probably don't need much work.
