For almost a year now, fans have been teased with several trailers as the release date of the film "The Dark Knight Rises" creeps up.

However, the latest footage of the film may not be what fans are expecting. In a new trailer, which was recently released, it is suggested that Batman may never return as he finally meets his match with super villain Bane.

Not only does the two-minute long video trailer hint at the comic book hero's disappearance, it also gave fans an insight on how really dangerous Bane is. The menacing character is portrayed by British actor, Tom Hardy, where he is seen blowing up a football pitch, wrecking a bank and the most disturbing is the result of his fight with Batman. When the two meet, the tussle ends with Bane walking away and tossing Batman's torn mask on the floor.

Batman certainly is not scared of his latest match as he announces it to Alfred Pennyworth, who is portrayed by Michael Caine. "I'm not afraid, I'm angry," Batman has stated.

Meanwhile, the video trailer also shows a glimpse of Bruce Wayne as he returns to his role of Batman after the previous film "The Dark Knight" ended up with him having to go into hiding after taking the blame for the destruction that was caused by The Joker and Harvey "Two-face" Dent. "Remember where you parked?" Morgan Freeman's character, Lucius Fox, asks a tired-looking Wayne as he is reunited with the Bat mobile.

Fans can also see another side of Selina Kyle, also known as Catwoman, who is portrayed by actress Anne Hathaway. The mysterious character does not say much in the latest trailer. In a previous trailer, she was seen dancing with Bruce Wayne at masquerade ball and foreshadows danger. "A storm is coming, Mr. Wayne," Catwoman warns. "And you and your friends better batten down the hatches," she added.

A longstanding rumor has already been circulating that Bruce Wayne will perish in this final installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins franchise. "The Dark Knight Rises" has cost $250million to make but it will not be shown in 3D, only IMAX cinemas. The film opens at cinemas in Australia on July 19.
