For some reason, rumors continue to suggest that popular actor Adam Sandler tragically died in a freak snowboarding accident. That's just not true... the 47-year-old actor is still alive and well. In fact, he's filming a slew of new movies scheduled for 2014 releases.

Here's the viral death hoax that sparked such disturbing "RIP Adam Sandler" Twitter and Facebook posts:

Actor Adam Sandler is reported to have died shortly after a snowboard accident earlier today - December 26, 2013.

The actor & novice snowboarder was vacationing at the Zermatt ski resort in Zermatt, Switzerland with family and friends. Witnesses indicate that Adam Sandler lost control of his snowboard and struck a tree at a high rate of speed.

Adam Sandler was air lifted by ski patrol teams to a local hospital, however, it is believed that the actor died instantly from the impact of the crash. The actor was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played any part in his death.

Addition details and information will be updated as it becomes available. This story is still developing.

This same bogus obituary template has been used to kill-off Sandler on the web for MONTHS... and it's totally FAKE.

But still, some Twitter fans fall for it every time (this specific death hoax hit the internet around Dec. 22):

@foreverkat124: "Is Adam Sandler dead or not?! Becuase I hope he's not, it'll ruin my CHRISTMAS!"

@jackl50: "@AdamSandler are you dead?"

@mikegatlin10: "RIP Adam Sandler."

If Sandler really did die... wouldn't legit news sources be covering the tragedy? He's NOT dead... it's just a hoax.

And it's not very funny... considering several people pass away from such freak accidents every day (including beloved "Fast and Furious" actor, Paul Walker).

Sandler's actually working on three new movies - "Blended," "The Cobbler," and "Men, Women & Children." "Blended," also starring Drew Barrymore, hits theaters on May 23, 2014. Here's the IMBd description:

After a bad blind date, a man and woman find themselves stuck together at a resort for families, where their attraction grows as their respective kids benefit from the burgeoning relationship.
