Will Ferrell, better known as Ron Burgundy at this point, has had a big year. The promotion for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues was unprecedented, and frankly, a bit out of control.

But Ferrell stepped up and took charge, taking him to places like Canada for the curling trials to determine Olympic contenders. That makes perfect sense. And he showed up on the real local news in Bismarck, North Dakota to shake things up and woo the newswoman beside him.

Despite all of the hype and merciless promotion, the film hasn't received the best reviews, which isn't unheard of for a sequel to a smash hit. Perhaps the Burgundy stunts couldn't make up for the fact that the film didn't quite stand up to the original. As Time Magazine movie critic Richard Corliss explained:

"Anchorman 2 is more like SNL in the sharper years (1995-2002), when McKay was a writer and Ferrell one of the Not Ready for Prime Time Players. Expect no more and you should be satisfied. Wine connoisseurs would call this a new Burgundy with an old bouquet."

A clever remark, but an additional Scotch metaphor would have wrapped things up nicely. Regardless of how the film has done at the box office, Burgundy has indeed made an impression on pop culture this year. As featured on his own website created with Anchorman director Adam McKay, here is a clip of some of his highlighted moments from Funny or Die.
