Blue is the Warmest Color is arguably the most controversial film of 2013, but it has still garnered plenty of critical acclaim since its release. Stars Léa Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos have stated that director Abdellatif Kechiche created an uncomfortable working environment and that they'd never work with him again, but the film took over Cannes this year thanks to the actresses and the filmmaker. Although the film won't be nominated for an Oscar thanks to its graphic NC-17 nature, Adele Exarchopoulos is still able to be nominated for Best Actress. IFC Films has released a special "For Your Consideration" trailer for the young star in hopes of getting this nomination.

In response to Seydoux and Exarchopoulos complaining about working with Keniche, the director said, "Miss Seydoux, who after having repeatedly thanked me publicly and privately and having wept in my arms at Cannes for allowing her to take on this noble role ... has, against all odds and all personal coherence, radically changed her attitude toward me."

"Thus after having been celebrated and glorified thanks to the Palme d'Or won by Blue Is the Warmest Color, she started to drag me through the mud with lies and exaggerations," he added.
