Fans have seen some glimpses and close-up images of Jamie Foxx as Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but two new stills of the character from the movie show off some more of the villain's powers and look.

Empire Online posted the exclusive photos, and this first one shows a more zoomed-out view of Foxx as Electro from the movie's official trailer in what seems to be a containment unit of some sort. It also appears that Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) is looking at him:

This second photo shows Electro in action as he fires some electric bolts from his hands. He wears a hoodie in the photo and his blue face is visible:

In other The Amazing Spider-Man 2 news, the film has been hyping a reveal for New Year's Eve night in Times Square and did so again with the following teaser clip:

Director Marc Webb and Spider-Man appeared on Good Morning America earlier this week to promote the reveal and announced that a new clip would debut in Times Square during the New Year's Eve festivities. But is there more to it than that?

MTV.com has listed some possibilities, and the first (and most interesting) is that Andrew Garfield would appear in the flesh as Spider-Man. As the site points out:

"The man behind the mask loves Spidey. He loves playing him, and he loves celebrating his culture. Garfield's been known to make public appearances as the web-slinger in the past, but this would really take things to another level. It's probably too much to expect Garfield will be on hand for a live Spider-Man performance, but it would be cool as hell and worth sticking around for."

Another possibility is an announcement about the Venom and Sinister Six spinoff films, though that would detract from the focus on The Amazing Spider-Man 2. MTV also speculates that the New Year's Eve reveal could be a tribute to the Broadway play Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark," which is about to close.

The fourth option is that fans are just going to get a clip from the movie. If so, them hopefully it delivers after the amount of hype generated in recent weeks.

What do you think, Spidey fans? What will happen in Times Square tonight? Let us know in the comments below.
