It's safe to say that 2013 was a good year for English rockers Bastille. They scored a decent hit in the States with their Coldplay-esque warrior chant-a-long "Pompeii" and their debut album Bad Blood was certified platinum in the UK. Still it appears they do have some complaints. Frontman Dan Smith says that they would already have a Bad Blood follow-up in the can if they didn't have to tour so much to capitalize on the success of their first album.

"I think if we weren't touring so much we'd probably have finished the album by now," he told Gigwise. "I've never wanted our music to be one thing. I guess we make things when we feel like it."

However, in spite of the album's unfinished nature, Smith did provide a bit of insight into what the new album will sound like.

"There will be some songs that'll be quite guitar heavy and dark and at the moment I've been listening to a hell of a lot of R&B and so you know, there might even be some songs leaning that way," Smith said.

Ooh, so maybe we have another AM coming our way in the near future. Though Smith admits that the influences might not be obvious to everyone.

"it's one of those things where what I think sounds like a dark rock song or an R&B track might to someone else just sound like a Bastille song."
