Seth MacFarlane has made western, of all things, with A Million Ways to Die in the West, which is set to hit theaters on May 30. The film features a start-studded cast with Charlize Theron, Neil Patrick Harris, Amanda Seyfried, Liam Neeson and Sarah Silverman. The first photo of a scene from the film has now been released.

The story follows MacFarlane's character, Albert, who is a sheep farmer and ends up losing his girlfriend, played by Seyfried, as a result of being defeated in a duel when he walked away from the challenge. His confidence is later redeemed, though, when he meets Theron's character. She reminds him of his bravery as they fall in love. But her husband, Neeson, is a known outlaw and ends up challenging Albert, allowing him to pursue his true potential.

The first photo from the set is a shot with MacFarlane, Theron, Harris and Seyfried, styled in true western garb. MacFarlane, most well known for his work creating Family Guy, seems to have a knack for unconventional comedy and film themes. After all, he did put out a movie about a potty-mouthed teddy bear that was best friends with Mark Wahlberg, and that film (Ted) made $540 million worldwide.

We'll have to see if MacFarlane's attempt at a western comedy is a success in May, but chances are it could be a hit or miss. The film does come with a great cast, and he's proven to make quite an impact with his sense of humor, but his somewhat controversial performance hosting the Oscars last year shows that the man might not always come out on top.
