According to the U.K. Mirror, we could be seeing an Agent Carter television series coming in the near future, and maybe even in 2014. Though the source material isn't too promising, fans of the Captain America character portrayed by Hayley Atwell are getting excited at this prospect. This rumor comes in thanks to the success of the Marvel "One-Shot" short film of the same name featured on the Iron Man 3 bonus features of the DVD and Blu-Ray releases.

Here's what The Mirror said about this possible television series:

Huge congratulations to Hayley Atwell who has just landed her own major TV series Stateside in a new spin-off to Captain America. The London-born actress, 31, is about to start work on Agent Carter, which will be out at the end of the year. It comes just weeks after she completed filming on the second Capt America movie, playing bolshy agent, Peggy Carter.

Again, The Mirror isn't exaclty a reputable source for this kind of news, but it is still exciting! Are you excited for this possibly becoming a television series?

Earlier in 2013, Atwell addressed the possibility of an Agent Carter show coming in the near future.

"I read about that too. The one-shot was so successful, the fanbase were like, 'We want more of Peggy!' I think Marvel probably takes that very seriously, and it's certainly something I would be a part of doing," she said. "I'd be interested to show different sides of Peggy. Although she's kick-ass, and she can be aggressive and she can be just as competent as the men, it'd be nice to show that she's a feminist in a way. It's not just about her being aggressive and as aggressive as the men in those action sequences, but being able to be a little bit more rounded as a person. I think she could be a great role model and a great member of the Marvel Universe. I love the Marvel lot, they're really great people to work with, so it would be nice to go back and work with them again. I'd definitely do it."
