The Man of Steel sequel currently known as Batman vs. Superman will spend several months in production in Detroit, which should help stimulate the suffering local economy. But the movie is actually set to break production budget records in Michigan.

Michelle Grinnell, the public relations manager for the Michigan Film Office, told Inquistr that Batman vs. Superman is the largest production to ever be filmed in Michigan with a budget of $131 million in the state alone. The previous record belonged to Oz: The Great and Powerful, which filmed in Michigan in 2011.

"It's the film where Batman and Suerman meet for the first time on the big screen," Grinnell said of her excitement for the movie.

The sequel will shoot in multiple locations, including the state-of-the-art Michigan Motion Picture Studios in Pontiac. But unlike Oz: The Great and Powerful, the superhero movie will also shoot on location with Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman) and more out in public for fans to see.

According to the article, the state of Michigan expects the Batman vs. Superman shoot to add approximately $5 million in revenue and 6,000 jobs to the area, both of which are much needed by the area.

Zack Snyder will direct Batman vs. Superman, which hits theaters on July 17, 2015. It stars Henry Cavil as Clark Kent/Superman, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.

Other rumored characters in the project include Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, Lex Luthor and Doomsday and actors rumored for the project include Denzel Washington, Idris Elba and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
