The Bachelor started full force Monday night with a look at bachelor Juan Pablo's home life, a friendly consultation with veteran Sean Lowe, and the first introduction to the ladies this season.

In an honest conversation, Juan Pablo admitted to Sean the biggest thing, initially, was that he's nervous about is introductions.  "I'm horrible with names," said the new bachelor.

It was likely hard for women not to love Juan Pablo when there was footage of him playing in the sand on the beach with his daughter peacefully perched on his shoulders. But the daddy image dissipated a bit once the women started rolling in. He went from single dad to the one in charge, giving girls a chance to stick around, at least for a moment.

One twist, before the ladies arrived, came when news from Chris Harrison revealed that Juan Pablo would be looking for the love of his life among 27 women, instead of just 25 (two random additions).

During the limo entrances, Juan Pablo seemed smitten and overwhelmed by the women who walked toward him. He kept it together, but it was apparent that he was more than pleased with his options.

Lucy, the "Free Spirit," showed up with no shoes on, wearing a flower headband and ended up crying toward the end of the evening. Another girl showed up wheeling in behind a piano, playing a tune for the bachelor. Her nerves resulted in some harshly missed notes, but he was forgiving.

And, as we were all waiting for, there was an especially unique limo exit, beyond bare feet and pianos. Hairstylist Clare came out appearing to be pregnant, later admitting it wasn't real. That'll get him! He did say that she looked "gorgeous with that belly," so maybe the joke paid off?

Once he was close to the end of introductions, Juan Pablo revealed how difficult he thought this process would be: "How am I going to do this, honestly?" The life of "The Bachelor" isn't easy, Juan Pablo. Better step up and take care of business.

Along with all of the excitement, a weird massage treatment, champagne toasts, dancing and photo booth sessions, the first impression rose was on the table.

The lucky lady ended up being the opera singer, Sharleen, who traveled from work in Germany to make an appearance on the show. But she accepted the coveted rose, which everyone else was stressing about, with a casual "sure." Looks like she might not think Juan Pablo is the right guy for her, but she's willing to stick it out for now.

At the end of the episode, the infamous rose ceromony commenced with a few girls being asked to head home. But before we got to that point, hopeful Kylie thought she heard her name called among the chosen ones and came down for the rose. Awkward. She definitely misheard, because she ended up being one of the 5 ladies sent home on the very first night.

There were tears at the end of the first elimination, so we clearly have a lot of emotion and drama to look forward to.
