[Update: Badass Digest reports that the Wonder Woman Kryptonian speculation is false.]

Fans who have been following the news about the Man of Steel sequel, tentatively titled Batman vs. Superman, know that Gal Gadot of the Fast and the Furious franchise will play Wonder Woman in the film. In almost all incarnations of the character, Wonder Woman is an Amazonian warrior. But could the Superman sequel turn her into a Kryptonian?

MStars previously noted that Jett from Batman-on-Film, who is typically a reliable source for all things Dark Knight movie-related, described Wonder Woman's role in the movie as a "cameo-plus" similar to Scarlett Johansson's role as Black Widow in Iron Man 2. But Jett went on to say the following about Gadot's character:

"With all that said, I'd bet a year's pay - in MONOPOLY money, of course - that the 'Amazons' of this cinematic DCU will be descendants of those 'ancient Kryptonians' who attempted to set up Kryptonian outposts throughout spacedom thousands and thousands of years ago. Furthermore, I say that Wonder Woman will be powered-down, if you will, relative to Superman because these Amazons have evolved and adapted to living on Earth for hundreds of centuries. And since Kryptonians are produced without any 'He'n and She'n' - Jor El and Lara excluded - couldn't this original Kryptonian on Earth have used this reproductive science to create an all-female race? I say yes!"

As always, nothing is official until it comes directly from the studio or the moviemakers, so take this with a grain of salt. But what do you think? If true, is this an interesting and fresh new take on the most iconic female superhero ever, or is it a mistake? Let us know in the comments below.
