[UPDATE: John Campea went on his Facebook page to clarify the situation:

"Team Amasian wasn't trying to be deceptive at all. They just jumped the gun and started using the wrong terminology...like 'confirmed.' It's not confirmed. They are not professional movie bloggers and simply made a rookie mistake. As a result, for now we've set the video they recorded as 'private.'"]

The rumors of Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor in the Man of Steel sequel tentatively titled Batman vs. Superman have been floating around for months, but they subsided recently as other names such as Denzel Washington an Idris Elba arose. But the name of the man formerly known as Walter White is back at the forefront again thanks to a recent podcast.

Team Amasian, an AMC offshoot podcast, has claimed that they have confirmed, 100 percent and beyond a doubt, that Cranston will portray Superman's greatest nemesis in Batman vs. Superman. The ladies on the show said that they could not reveal their sources, but they added that the same sources revealed that Alex Ross would inspire Ben Affleck's Batman costume.

They seem extremely confident that the Cranston casting is all but official, but as always, take this report with a grain of salt until the studio confirms it.

For the record, AMC's John Campea went on Twitter last week and cited a couple of "untested sources" who supposedly told him that Cranston would play Lex Luthor. Also for the record, the woman on the right in the video (which you can view here) is Campea's wife. Again, it's entirely possible that these reports could be misdirection or misinformation.

Cranston could be the perfect actor for the part for numerous reasons. Firstly, he proved throughout Breaking Bad that he can play the villain extremely well, and not just in the maniacal bad guy way. Cranston layered the Walter White/Heisenberg character with complex motivations, and he also brilliantly pulls off a menacing presence without saying a word, which would serve him well as Lex Luthor.

Perhaps most importantly, Cranston has shown that he looks good bald!

But what do you think? Should/will Cranston play the part? Let us know in the comments below.
