Stan Lee, the master of all things Marvel, has appeared in what seems like dozens of films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from Iron Man to The Avengers and even to projects not run by Marvel Studios, such as Spider-Man 3. But now, Lee will make his way to Marvel's television series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., for a significant role.

Lee, who also serves as executive producer on the show, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that he would have a "big role" in the episode, which the site reports will most likely air on Feb. 4. The site also posted an exclusive photo that features Lee, Clark Gregg and Elizabeth Henstridge. The biggest omitted detail, though, is the role Lee plays on the show.

Lee has appeared on television as himself on CBS' The Big Bang Theory and will soon star in the animated film Stan Lee's Mighty 7, in which he leads a group of superheroes as he writes about them and their adventures in comic books. The movie premieres at 8 p.m. on Feb. 1 on Hub Network.

As previously reported, Paul Rudd will portray the titular superhero in Edgar Wright's 2015 Ant-Man movie. But could the character perhaps get his start on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? If Gregg, who stars as Agent Phil Coulson, has his wish, then maybe so.

Gregg told Zap2It that he hopes Rudd is with Marvel for a long time and that the actor appears on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.:

"What I love most about the movies from Iron Man to The Avengers is the sense of humor, and to have someone in the world who's going to really slam the not taking himself too seriously component out of the park is perfect. I hope [Rudd] does a lot of films with them and he comes onto our show."

Furthermore, Gregg revealed that he is a huge fan of Rudd's work and his casting in the Ant-Man movie:

"I love that idea. I love that idea. I think he's amazing and, for me, what's great about Marvel is the kind of outside the box casting that they've done, starting with Robert [Downey Jr.] who now seems so perfect, but I think was a little bit of a tough sell at the first moment," he says. "People who you don't associate initially with superhero movies is what works so well for Ant-Man, who's so smart and has an intellect."
