Wrestling legend Mae Young dies at the age of 90

The world of wresting has lost a great legend this morning. Mstars has learned that WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Mae Young died this morning in South Carolina.

The 90-year-old former wrestler was taken off life support Thursday morning following an undisclosed illness.  

Young was the only woman and the only wrestler to compete in nine different decades, which includes her first match in 1939 until her final match in 2010.

The Hall of Famer, who was born Johnnie Mae Young was hospitalized and placed on life support on December 30, 2013. According to records Young was born March 23, 1923, in Sand Springs, Okla., and the Post and Courier says that some friends claim that her actual birthdate was several years before.

Mae and her friend, pioneer female wrestler, The Fabolous Moolah returned to the WWE back in 1999.

The two were in their 70s when they returned to the sport. Their stunts include being were involved in memorable moments like being powerbombed (a professional wrestling throw) through a table by the Dudley Boyz and the birth of "hand." 

At seventy-six, Young was named the WWF's "Miss Royal Rumble 2000" at the Royal Rumble, shown on pay-per-view in Madison Square Garden when she won a bikini contest. 

Young was also the first-ever NWA United States Women's Champion; she was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008.
