The highly anticipated Disney Channel series Girl Meets World, the sequel to the wildly popular ABC TGIF series Boy Meets World, does not premiere until later this year, but star Ben Savage, who plays Cory Matthews in both shows, gave fans a treat by posting the first photo of the new Matthews family.

Savage posted the photo on his Instagram page and offered fans a look at himself, Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence/Matthews), Rowan Blanchard (Riley Matthews) and the rest of the Girl Meets World cast.

Girl Meets World will be set in New York City and will tell "the wonderfully funny, heartfelt stories that Boy Meets World is renowned for-only this time from a tween girl's perspective," according to a Disney Channel press release from June. Riley's best friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), who will essentially act as the Shawn Hunter character in the new show, joins her as the two will face middle school together.

Of course, many fans of Boy Meets World are still wondering if characters from the original series will pop up in the new show. Will Friedle, who played Eric Matthews on BMW, spoke to IGN back in July about his visit to the set:

"Rider (Strong) and I have been friends for years, and of course we wanted to be there when all this was happening. Again, a lot of the crew is the same, a lot of the writers are the same, Michael Jacobs is there, and of course you've got Ben (Savage) and Danielle (Fishel). So to be back in that world and be back on that vibe with that kind of set, it was pretty incredible. And to see Ben standing there at the head of the classroom as an adult, now as the teacher, was -- in a way, you're looking at your childhood, but you're also looking at your future, watching scenes with Ben talking to his daughter. Ben was 11 when we started 'Boy,' so to sit there and now see him as a father, it's pretty amazing. We had a wonderful time on the set. They were just firing on all cylinders. It was great to be there, especially with Rider and Ben and Danielle."
