Fox's The Following was the surprise hit of 2013, mixing suspense and action into a thrilling tale of a search for a serial killer supported by a cult of followers. The exciting season one finale left fans with plenty of questions about the next season (premiering this week), but luckily a recent Q&A with stars Kevin Bacon, James Purefoy and showrunner Kevin Williamson has shed some light on the new episodes.

"I don't see the show as nearly [as violent], now that we're shooting episode 11," Williamson told reporters this week at the Television Critics Association press tour. "It's just from the storytelling of this year and the story we're choosing to tell kind of has different shapes and changes, and where it's at, I find it less violent than last year."

Less violent? Does this mean we won't wee anymore eye stabbing and throat cutting? Is that a good or bad thing?

"This year it's a different show. It's a different story and what the story calls for," Williamson said, explaining that he never wants "gore for the sake of gore."

He added: "The first episode, 'OK, there's a little bit [of violence], but I felt [director] Marcos [Siega] did a beautiful job of making it scary. I don't really see it as gory. I guess it's subjective. I like a little bit of violence, sorry."
