Great news, sadsacks! Morrissey has signed a solo deal with Capitol and is working on a new album.

The former Smiths singer just inked a two-album deal with Capitol and is set to start recording his first solo effort since 2009 on February 1.

Last year, according to the Telegraph, Morrissey went on a Mexican radio station (Morrissey is astoundingly popular in Mexico. Not even joking.) and claimed that no new albums were forthcoming because "none of the majors [were] interested." However, it appears that either Moz was fibbing or they've changed their tune after a successful 2013 tour.

On top of all this news, Pitchfork is reporting that Morrissey will start touring again soon.

Moz recently released a wildly popular autobiography (though it got mixed reviews from critics) and is planning on dropping a novel in the near future. In other words, 2014 is going to be quite the year for Morrissey.
