Keith Urban on Wife Nicole Kidman: ‘She is the good voice of reason’

Keith Urban feels grateful to have worked on The Voice, saying his wife Nicole Kidman had convinced him to take on a mentor-and-judge role in the singing competition. He took his wife to Lady Gaga's concert for her 45th birthday.

Urban's stint on The Voice has propelled him to No. 1 on the mainstream charts. Expectations are also high on his 2013 concerts.

The 2013 concert tour will kick off at the Entertainment Centre in Brisbane on January 25-26. Then Urban will perform at Allphones Arena in Sydney on January 30.

"I can't wait to tour in Australia again, new music new show, I know we're gonna have a blast!" Urban said on his website.

Urban acknowledged The Voice brought his music closer to more Aussie fans.

"I'm just like any other artist, I'm just trying to get my music heard and not judged beforehand," he told Daily Telegraph, adding, "And what is even more of a priority than the record, is just come to the gig. Don't have a preconceived idea of what my gig is."

The Voice could have not had the straightforward and levelheaded Urban as a judge in its first season if not for Kidman.

"It wasn't so much that she talked me around - it was more her saying, 'let's see if we can make the schedule work' because she loved the US version," Urban earlier told the Herald Sun.

Urban calls his wife "the good voice of reason" for bringing up reasons to sign on for The Voice.

"Well, she is the good voice of reason. Put it this way, I probably wouldn't need to be talked around to do it again. I'd love to do it again," Urban said.

Urban and Nicole make up one of the seemingly most stable relationships in Hollywood today. They will celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary on June 25.

The country music star took his Hollywood elite wife and her parents to a low-key dinner in Sydney on Wednesday night. After that, the couple watched Lady Gaga's concert.
