Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has had some superpowered characters during its brief run thus far in Season 1, including the origins stories of Graviton and Blizzard. The show has not brought in any characters from the major Marvel movie properties (that brief end-of-show tag with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury doesn't count), but that is about to change when a certain Thor and Thor: The Dark World actress descends upon Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

ABC President Paul Lee told reporters at the 2014 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour on Friday (via EW.com) that Jaimie Alexander, who plays Lady Sif in the Thor movies, would appear in the 15th episode of this season. Lee assured those in attendance at the press tour that Alexander's presence on the show would be "integral" to the episode.

Lee also said that fans would find out the identity of the Clairvoyant by the end of the season and that the producers have a "very cool" plan for the second half of the season. The show has fallen in the ratings in nearly every consecutive week since its debut, but Lee said he is feeling "very good" about the show from a creative standpoint.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. did a crossover of sorts with Thor: The Dark World earlier in the season when the characters helped clean up the mess caused by Malekith in the feature film.

What do you think, Marvel fans? Do you think Alexander's appearance will boost ratings? Are you excited to see her on the show? Why is Lady Sif dropping into the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. world? Let us know in the comments below.
