Happy birthday! Michelle Obama turns 50

Fifty and fabolous! First Lady Michelle Obama hit the big 5-0 today (Jan. 17). Happy birthday!

It has been reported that the First Lady plans to celebrate her special day out of the public eye. She made public appearances at back-to-back events at the White House this week so that is totally understandable.

Although she's out of sight today, FLOTUS did take the time to jump on Twitter. She tweeted out a photo of herself holding up her AARP card along with this message:

"Excited to join Barack" in the 50-plus club today . "check out my @AARP card!"

President Obama turned 50 back in 2011.

It has also been reported that the First Lady will have a big birthday bash Saturday (Jan. 18) at the White House.

When asked last month what her birthday plans were, she simply said that she wasn't "exactly sure yet what I'm going to do... but it might involve some dancing."

And she plans to do just that on her milestone birthday. Officials have kept details of the party under wraps but guests were told to come prepared to dance. Sounds like a good time and we all know that is one of Mrs. O's favorite pastimes.

When asked about her birthday and turning 50 in a recent interview, FLOTUS had this to say:

"I have never felt more confident in myself, more clear on who I am as a woman."

She also wants to reassure everyone out there that 50 is not old.
