Zack Snyder's Man of Steel sequel, currently known as Batman vs. Superman, was originally scheduled for release on July 17, 2015, but Warner Bros. announced in a press release on Friday that the film has been pushed back to May 6, 2016. But we have plenty of information to help soothe the wound from that news.

Comic Book Movie posted a report with major updates on the film through the site's inside source. As always, take all of this information with a grain of salt until Warner Bros. or another official source confirms anything:

-       Variety reported recently that the ball "is still in Joaquin Phoenix's court" for role of the main villain in the film. CBM reports that the villain is Lex Luthor and that Phoenix is "very close" to taking the part.

-       Henry Cavill will reportedly have a new haircut in the movie that will resemble his style from Kingdom Come without the gray hair. Superman's trademark "S" curl will also be part of the haircut.

-       Ben Affleck has reportedly suffered a musculature injury that is not too severe but that has prevented him from doing some of the movements for the fight sequences. The film will reportedly use a stunt double. The site stresses that Affleck's injury is not the reason for the delay.

-       One reason for the delay is the concern over Wonder Woman's home of Themyscira aka Paradise Island. Executives are reportedly debating whether to actually show the island via heavy special effects or to just refer to it in the course of the movie.

-       CBM's source reports that the studio is considering shooting Batman vs. Superman and Wonder Woman back-to-back (as reported by Latino Review last week) but that it has not made an official decision. Another source contacted CBM and said that Justice League has been confirmed and will be released one year after Batman vs. Superman.

-       Warner Bros, does not want to copy Marvel's "post-credits scene" model, but the rumors of a cliffhanger at the end of Batman vs. Superman are true. Instead of an after-credits scene, WB wants to end each movie with a cliffhanger to set up the next movie and also wants to create short films for lesser-known characters that would play at the end of each main film.

-       The marketing campaign for Batman vs. Superman will begin later this year with photos in the coming months and a viral site that will contain a "choose your side" angle.
