One of fans' most common complaints about Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is that the show has not brought in enough elements from the broader Marvel universe, like Arrow has done with characters from the DC universe. But that is about to change, as the character of Deathlok will soon debut on the show.

Or should we say, re-debut, as the character has already appeared on the show twice. Marvel has announced that J. August Richards, who played the superpowered Mike Peterson for two episodes, will transform into the character in the Feb. 4 episode of the series.

Many fans expected Richards to play Luke Cage based on the initial footage of him in the pilot, but the show is going a different way. Plus, Luke Cage will be the star of his own Netflix series in 2015.

"We have been waiting all season for this moment where we can reveal that Mike Peterson's story arc is an origin story," executive producer Jeffrey Bell said in a statement. "We're thrilled to have J. August Richards playing Deathlok and to have our audience enjoy this favorite Marvel character on the show."

"If you would have asked when I was nine-years old what I wanted to be, I would have said a super hero and I'm so excited to be one now as an adult on TV!" Richards said. "It's a dream come true."

Deathlok is a cyborg assassin created by Dough Moench and Rich Buckler that first appeared in 1974, though the character has changed several times since then.
