Jay Leno hints at new History Channel series after 'Tonight Show' departure for replacement Jimmy Fallon

In a new interview with 60 Minutes, departing Tonight Show host Jay Leno revealed great new pieces of information about how he was pretty much forced out of his job. Though he has no ill will towards his replacement, Jimmy Fallon, Leno explained that he wasn't too happy about getting the ax. But the outgoing late night talk show host managed to drop hints about a possible future series with the History Channel that his fans can look forward to, but not just yet.

While asked about his History Channel future, Leno explained that it wouldn't be happening just yet.

"No, no, no, I'm not going to the History Channel," he said with a laugh.

But when The Hollywood Reporter reached out to the network in question, a spokesperson wasn't keen on ruling out the possibility of a Jay Leno show.

"We're big fans of Jay, and we think he would really be complementary to our audience," the spokesperson said.

What kind of show would he do at this network though? In a recent interview, he explained how he wanted to branch out and away from another Tonight Show series, so what does he have in mind?

The Hollywood Reporter notes:

It's worth noting that Leno is something of a history buff, particularly as it pertains to his prized car collection. The indefatigable comedian has been known to give regular tours of his collection, housed in two hangars at the Burbank Airport, and can recite the history of each of the antique cars in his stable.

"To do The Tonight Show Lite wouldn't make a lot of sense," he said. "I have this Jay Leno's Garage channel and that's been really successful. I really enjoy that and it's different from what I do here so consequently I'm not competing against the shadow of my former self."
