The midseason finale of Season 4 of AMC's The Walking Dead changed the game for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his band of survivors. The group had the security (more or less) of the prison for the better part of a season-and-a-half, but The Governor's assault with a tank literally blew the door wide open and destroyed their home.

Now, the survivors are scattered even more so than they have ever been before, with Rick and Carl on their own and father telling son not to look back. The fates of baby Judith and Glenn are also very much in the air, and several key players (such as Hershel and the Governor) met their ends during the attack.

A new Season 4 featurette, which you can view below, has the cast and crew talking about what's next for the survivors after the destruction of their home. Each of them makes it clear that the survivors are back to square one as they hunt for a place to take shelter and try to rebuild the life they had back at the prison.

Andrew Lincoln refers to the eight episodes that comprise the second half of the season as "like a whole new season" and describes the "psychological horror" that the characters face for the rest of the season. As for Rick's mentality, Lincoln painted a not-so-rosy picture:

"He's not only physically battered, but emotionally bereft. You see a man that is very, very scared and it comes out as a much more aggressive, protective father figure."
