Emma Stone teases Gwen Stacy's fate in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'

Fans of the Spider-Man comic book know that a pivotal moment in the superhero's life came when his first girlfriend, Gwen Stacy, died at the hands of the Green Goblin even though Spidey thought he had saved her life. Given that the Goblin will square off with the web head in some capacity in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, some fans have expected the character, played by Emma Stone, to meet her demise.

Stone called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to talk about Marc Webb's superhero sequel and revealed that fans will find out more about Gwen's fate in a special clip that debuts Thursday on the film's official Facebook page. This clip will also air during the Super Bowl on Sunday.

But wait, there's more:

"Basically they're going to see the continuation of the Spider-Man story, which is the hero's journey, and he's up against a whole new squadron of villains and he's struggling with promises he's made in the last movie and the consequences of making those and what it's like to be in love with somebody who you promised to not see anymore. I think the intention the whole time has been to tell Gwen's story as closely to the comic as possible."

Okay, now we're nervous. It's extremely unlikely that we'd actually see Gwen die in this clip, but Stone's comments indicate that her character will not make it out of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 alive.
