Nickelodeon has just announced its host for the 2014 Kids' Choice Awards and you might be a little surprised to hear who it is. 42-year-old dramatic actor Mark Wahlberg will be hosting this awards ceremony on March 29, 2014. With Wahlberg succeeding last year's host, Josh Duhamel, it looks like the older men of the Transformers movies appeal to children!

"We are thrilled to welcome a superstar like Mark Wahlberg as he takes the helm as our master of ceremonies at the biggest kid event of the year," Nickelodeon's president of content development and production Russell Hicks said. "We can't wait for him to host and have lots of slime-filled fun with Hollywood's biggest stars and our audience."

Though the children attending and watching the awards show might not be familiar with Wahlberg's most recent film, Lone Survivor, the actor has done plenty of charity work for kids. In 2001, the I Heart Huckabees star founded the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation, which was set up to benefit inner city children and teens. Kids might not be familiar with his charity work either.

This announcement brings up some questions, but in all honesty having a huge star like Wahlberg hosting will surely be great for the event. But will the kids be happy with the host? Last year's ceremony with Duhamel was confusing, so perhaps we should expect a lot of the same this year? Maybe one of the biggest questions about this announcement has to be this: Was Nick Cannon somehow too busy?

Hopefully he doesn't run into One Direction!
