The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will continue its marketing campaign with a brand new trailer during Super Bowl 48 on Sunday. A teaser for that trailer has been released to give fans a taste of what's to come, and the clip shows some brand new footage, including a possibly fatal scenario for Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone).

The end of the clip shows Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) diving to save Gwen, who is falling toward a building. Spider-Man grabs her and the two crash through some glass, at which point we're told to check out the Super Bowl ad for the rest.

This may not seem like much, but consider these comments from Stone earlier in the week when she called into On Air with Ryan Seacrest:

"Basically they're going to see the continuation of the Spider-Man story, which is the hero's journey, and he's up against a whole new squadron of villains and he's struggling with promises he's made in the last movie and the consequences of making those and what it's like to be in love with somebody who you promised to not see anymore. I think the intention the whole time has been to tell Gwen's story as closely to the comic as possible."

What happens in the comics? Gwen dies even though Spider-Man thinks he has saved her life. It's not certain that this new clip shows Gwen's death, or that she will die at all in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but things seem to be heading in that direction.

The rest of the clip shows some new action sequences and glimpses at the three villains in the film. Check back with MStars for the full trailer next week.

What do you think, Spidey fans? Will Gwen perish in the movie? Does this clip show the moment? Let us know in the comments below.
