After the untimely death of award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman at the age of 46, the production company behind the blockbuster series The Hunger Games, Lionsgate, has released a brief statement regarding the upcoming Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2 movies. Hoffman was cast to play Gamemaker-turned-resistance-fighter Plutarch Heavensbee in Catching Fire and the aforementioned upcoming sequels, so what does this mean for the series?

Here is the short statement from the film company on the actor's death:

"Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation. We're very fortunate that he graced our Hunger Games family. Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip's family."

It might not be in great taste to worry about this film series already so close to the passing of one of Hollywood's greatest talents, but the question has been asked: Is Mockingjay in trouble?

According to Deadline, the movie franchise will most likely recover from this untimely loss.

"We're hearing Hoffman had completed the majority of his work on Lionsgate's The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2 prior to his sudden death Sunday morning," the website reports. "He had seven days of filming to go before wrapping Mockingjay Part 2, but there's no word yet on what Lionsgate plans to do to make up for that remaining week Hoffman was supposed to film."

From the looks of it, we shouldn't worry about the movies. We can at least look forward to two more films featuring Hoffman posthumously.
