The lifeless body of Academy Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found in an NYC apartment on Sunday (Feb. 2). Hoffman allegedly died of a heroin overdose - an investigation into the tragic death is still underway. Reports confirm that Hoffman's longtime girlfriend Mimi O'Donnell was completely "devastated" by the news. But was the "Hunger Games" star actually gay?

No.

Hoffman's good friend David Bar Katz (a popular playwright-screenwriter) made the shocking discovery of his death alongside Hoffman's assistant on Sunday morning. In fact, O'Donnell initially called Katz to check on the father of her children, since she'd been unable to get in contact with him.

Now, a seedy report in the National Enquirer suggests that Hoffman and Katz were involved in a "secret" romance.

"We were homosexual lovers. We had a relationship," Katz allegedly told the infamous gossip webloid. "I never thought his addiction had reached that level. We were planning to go to the Super Bowl together and have a really nice day."

But here's the thing - Katz never gave this interview. Either the Enquirer made everything up, or talked to a poser.

Katz "didn't give any interviews" (yet), sources confirm with Gossip Cop.

A rep for Hoffman also said, "The story is completely 100% FALSE."

Katz himself has yet to comment.

Friends, family, fans, and co-workers are still mourning the sudden and tragic death of Hoffman. Making up such shady, sensationalized rumors surrounding his death is a very serious matter. Mstars fans - be sure you get the straight facts before spreading such lies.

RIP, Philip Seymour Hoffman.
