Season 4 of The Walking Dead returns this Sunday night with the first new installment since the midseason finale, in which the Governor attacked the prison with a tank and destroyed the survivors' home. The characters we have come to know and love (more or less) are now scattered and fighting for their lives out in the world once again.

EW.com has now posted a new batch of photos that show several of the survivors in various dangerous circumstances. First, we have Rick (Andrew Lincoln) peering through the peephole of a door, presumably to see if everything is safe on the other side (we're going to guess and say it's not).

Next, we have Michonne (Danai Gurira) who is back to having two zombie pets on chains as she wanders around outside. We also see Glenn (Steven Yeun) in full SWAT armor in one picture, but in another he is on his back in regular clothes with blood on his head and a group of zombies not too far away from him.

We also have two photos of Daryl (Norman Reedus) who of course has his trademark crossbow in hand for one photo. Lastly, we see Carl (Chandler Riggs) as he tries to either break open a door with his shoulder or keep it shut by leaning against it.

The photos also offer a look at Southland alumnus Michael Cudlitz, who plays former U.S. Army sergeant Abraham Ford. In the comics, Abraham travels with his feisty Hispanic love interest Rosita Espinosa (played on the show by Christian Serratos of Twilight) and former high school science teacher Dr. Eugene Porter (played by Josh McDermitt of Last Comic Standing).

What do you expect for the second half of Season 4? Let us know in the comments below.
